Mission Statement

Genesis strives to assist and enhance lives by providing quality therapeutic and affordable services.  We aspire to provide guidance to our clients as they pursue their life goals.

Overview

Genesis Counseling and Consulting Services provides individualized services for a variety of populations in north Mobile County and surrounding areas. Services include couples and family therapy, substance use treatment programs, a qualified SAP for DOT employees, anger management, mental health therapy, pastoral counseling and professional development and training. Our programs offer morning, evening and weekend sessions to provide more flexibility with your schedule in order to meet your needs. In order to better serve those individuals in need, Genesis offers all services with a sliding scale fee. Additionally, we offer telehealth services, providing access to care from the privacy of your own home.

Staff Members

Christie Smith, MBA, MA, LPC

Christie earned her undergraduate degree from Faulkner University in Business Administration. She went on to earn an MBA from Columbia Southern University. After working in the business arena for several years, she decided to finally follow a lifelong desire to work in the therapeutic field. Christie earned a Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from the University of Mobile. There she graduated in the top of her class and received The University of Mobile’s Area Achievement Award. She is a Licensed Professional Counselor who is passionate about her work with  couples, families and substance use treatment.

Cherish Brannon, MS, CAC, MAC, SAP

Cherish is a native Mobilian who has been working in mental health and substance use treatment for more than a decade. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology from the University of South Alabama and proceeded to enhance her passion for assisting persons suffering from substance use disorders and mental health by learning from them what it takes to help someone pursue a life that is truly worth living. Cherish has made an impact in the ever-changing field of substance use treatment by incorporating her clinical knowledge of evidence based practices with real world treatment experiences from medication assisted treatment, abstinence based treatment, faith based treatment, co-occuring disorders treatment, and treatment for criminal offenders.

She serves as the Certification Commission Chair for the Alabama Alcoholism and Drug Counselor Certification Board and is certified by the Alabama Association of Addiction Counselors Certification Board (AAACCB) as a Certified Addiction Counselor (CAC) as well as being qualified as a Substance Abuse Professional (SAP) and certified as a Master Addiction Counselor (MAC) by the National Association for Alcoholism and Drug Abuse Counselors (NAADAC).

She has been a supervisor for numerous interns providing guidance and training on evidence-based practices for many clinicians over the last ten years.

Halle LeSueur, MS, MFTA

Halle was born and raised in Madison, Mississippi and after graduating high school, she moved to Hattiesburg where she earned her Bachelor’s degree in Broadcast Journalism from the University of Southern Mississippi. After working in the field of journalism, she found love and value for people and their unique stories within her community and decided to pursue a career in community mental health in Mobile as she completed her Master’s degree in Marriage and Family therapy from Capella University. Just like many of the founders of Marriage and Family therapy, Halle recognized the value of centering the familial unit in mental health and has made it her personal mission to continue to learn innovations to help today's families. As she continues to grow with her education and training, she has gained much experience and developed a strong passion for working with couples, families, and substance use disorders. She is currently a MFTA under the supervision of Luciana Silva, PhD, LMFT-S #401.

Macey Parsley, MA, ALC

Macey received her Bachelor’s degree in psychology at the University of South Alabama and proceeded to earn her Master’s degree in Marriage and Family therapy from the University of Mobile. While there, she was awarded The University of Mobile’s Area Achievement Award. Macey is an Associate Licensed Counselor who is supervised by Larry Daniels, LMFT, LPC-S #1002. She enjoys working with individuals from all walks of life, but she has found a true passion in working with children, adolescents and their families to help them navigate towards emotional wellness.

Jayla Wells, MS, ALC

Jayla is a licensed minister pursuing a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Counseling and Psychological Studies with a concentration in biblical counseling at Regent University.

Working with pre-teens and adolescents is something that she is very passionate about. Jayla strives to provide them with a welcoming, humorous, and nonjudgmental environment. Her therapeutic style is integrative, flexible, and creative, and it is tailored to each individual's specific needs to enhance their emotional, mental, and spiritual well-being. Jayla’s professional interests include spirituality, self-confidence building, anxiety, and life transitions. She is currently an Associate Licensed Counselor under the supervision of Tonya Hillman, MS, LPC, NCC, LPC-S SC3205.

Taylor Atwell, MA, ALC

Taylor was born and raised in Dothan, Alabama. After graduating high school, he moved to Mobile, Alabama to play soccer at the University of Mobile where he received his bachelor’s degree in theology. He proceeded to earn his Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from the University of Mobile as well. Taylor is an Associate Licensed Counselor who is supervised by Susanna Cheatham, LPC, LPS-S #2110. He enjoys working with a variety of individuals of all ages. He has experience with adolescents and their families in the juvenile court system and experience with adults that have experienced trauma, grief and loss, and relationship issues. Navigating the complexities of life can be intimidating, but Taylor fosters a client-centered, safe, and caring therapeutic environment.
